Noises You Shouldn’t Hear Your AC Make

There’s no such thing as a silent air conditioner. We’re going to put that out there right now. While air conditioners today are definitely a lot quieter, especially if you purchase one of the leading brands, and particularly with variable speed AC systems, you’re going to hear some noise.

You’ll likely hear the compressor starting up and shutting down if you’re close enough to the outdoor unit. You’ll hear the blower fan whirring, and you may even detect a gentle rattling of the ductwork as conditioned air goes through it and the temperatures fluctuate.

What you shouldn’t hear, however, are any sounds outside of the normal, day-to-day operation of your cooling system. This can include the following:
